SIMS Independent and International Spring Release 2018
According to Tolstoy “Spring is the time of plans and projects.” That’s certainly true here at SIMS International and Independent! We’ve been busy working on the Spring release and its developments and enhancements won’t disappoint.
Many of the Spring updates have been specifically requested by our independent and international school customers so you can be confident that they’ll be both useful and relevant, helping you make the most of SIMS in your school.
Here are just a few of the Spring developments that I think you’ll be particularly interested in:
- Better Handling of iGCSE Results
One of the biggest problems Independent schools face with Exams is analysing iGCSE exam results as many of these qualifications are now not accredited within the Performance Measures. To overcome this, you can now add your own user defined qualifications which SIMS will analyse enabling you to provide the ISC with the data it requires.
- Improvements in preparation for GDPR
I know most schools’ preparations for the enforcement of GDPR are now in full swing and as you’ll no doubt already be aware, the Autumn release included the Person Data Output (PDO) report for a student to assist you with any Subject Access Requests (SAR) you receive. As part of the Spring Release we have extended the PDO to include staff and contacts.
In addition, at BETT earlier this year, we launched the Parent App Lite which allows parents to update their own information as well as their children’s information held by their school. The app helps further ensure data accuracy and with its approval mechanism gives the school full control over their information before updating SIMS.
What’s more we have recently partnered with GDPRiS which enables schools to monitor, evidence and record their data procedures to meet the new regulations.
- We’re listening – your most popular change requests
The Spring release encompasses over 20 of your most popular change requests including the ability to add school defined document types, enhancements to Staff Performance Manager, new reporting fields in the Student and Class Lists, bulk update of user defined fields and adding the communicator in Communication History.
You can find a full list of the enhancements in our release note on MyAccount.
