Year on year, term on term, teachers face ongoing workloads that commit them to daily administrative tasks, which are often both manual and time consuming.
The SIMS Teacher app has been designed to help teachers manage the daily administrative tasks that often absorb critical teaching time and below are our top tips for making the most of the app.
1. Enter information anytime, anywhere
The SIMS Teacher app makes it easy for teachers take the register at any time. In a few simple taps, you can record present, absent and late marks so you can quickly return to your lesson. The app also allows you access to record registration for another class, meaning you are prepared in the event that a teacher is absent.
You can complete marksheets or record behaviour and achievement points from wherever you are, in just a few simple clicks. And because the app writes back to SIMS in real-time, there is no need to worry about waiting for synchronisation or scheduled updates – you can be confident that the data is automatically held in SIMS.
You can carry out many of your everyday tasks on your iPad or tablet and teachers can save time by recording their notes and comments vocally using the microphone, all meaning that schools save time and money.
2. Record your assessment judgements on the go
Using the SIMS Assessment function with the SIMS Teacher app means that teachers are able to record pupil assessment marks at any time, whether on or offline. Teachers can access marksheets as well as the national curriculum programme of study, plus the dedicated view allows teachers to enter judgements for a pupil against the curriculum being taught. As you are entering data, analysis is presented simultaneously, allowing teachers to make timely interventions when needed.
3. Always be prepared
With the SIMS Teacher app, not only can you check your own timetable from wherever you are, but you can also check the timetables of your colleagues and pupils. So, if a teacher is absent and you need to arrange ad-hoc cover, you are prepared. You could also take that teacher’s register directly from the app. Additionally, you can easily view a student’s timetable at any time and ensure they are where they should be.
4. Automate your internal communications
All data entered into the app is automatically written back to SIMS, meaning that important data is shared between colleagues without any manual intervention. You can see if a student has been late to earlier classes or if they have been awarded behaviour or achievement points during the day. And because data is sent to SIMS in real-time, it means that colleagues at all levels are kept up to date.
