The newly converted academy is a Pioneer School with an Arkwright Scholarship, a consultant school for the Specialist Schools Trust and was judged ‘Outstanding’ at its last Ofsted inspection. The academy recently switched to SIMS and the system has revitalised literally every area of the school.
“Before SIMS, we had the data - the difference is now we can actually access and use this information. We have one central place, where everyone who needs to, can access the information they need. This has made a big difference for our Heads of Form who can see the entire picture of every student without having to search through different information sources" says Marisa Maietta, the school’s Administration Manager.
SIMS has had a particular impact on identifying and helping borderline students, as Marisa explains: “We run a targeted mentoring scheme to support students who need just a little intervention to make a big difference to their attainment. Before we had SIMS, we found it difficult to identify these students – now, with SIMS Assessment, we can see exactly where to put in place that extra support. We can spend our time helping those students rather than trying to find the right information.
“As a result, we have been able to start the mentoring scheme much earlier in the year than ever before – by providing help more quickly, we have more opportunity to be effective and have an impact on student results.”
