For Radyr Comprehensive School, switching to SIMS is really helping to improve attendance and achievement by giving immediate insight into the progress of every single pupil.
By using SIMS to record attendance and achievement, Radyr can look at the big picture for its 1300 pupils. Then, by using SIMS Discover, they can graphically analyse their data, drilling down to understand the progress of groups or individual pupils, which is invaluable in providing an immediate understanding of pupil progress.
Within two weeks of switching to SIMS, members of staff were able to make use of SIMS Discover to identify targeted groups of pupils requiring additional help and track the effectiveness of intervention strategies.
Now the school can look at groups of pupils, by SEN, ethnicity or gender, and set alerts should these pupils not progress as expected. When a pupil’s attendance falls below a certain level or target grades are not reached, they receive a notification.
SIMS Discover substantially reduces the amount of time spent analysing pupil data and the school estimates it saves around eight weeks per annum on data analysis by using the system.
