No — not immediately. SIMS Next Gen is being released in phases and works alongside your existing SIMS system. New functionality is added over time, so you can start using features like Pupil Profile, Registration, and Attendance Management while continuing to access the areas still in SIMS 7. Over time, more features will move into SIMS Next Gen, giving you a smoother, cloud-based experience.
No installation required. SIMS Next Gen is cloud-based, so you can access it directly from your web browser. No downloads, no local software, and no IT tickets needed — just log in and go.
Yes. Because it’s browser-based and secure, you can access SIMS Next Gen from any internet-connected device with appropriate permissions. This means you can support your school even when working remotely, or move seamlessly between workstations.
SIMS Next Gen has been designed to be intuitive and easy to use, based on feedback from real school office teams. Most users find they can get started with minimal guidance. We also provide help articles, walkthroughs and videos to support you, and your MIS lead can advise if you’d like additional training or support.
You can already use SIMS Next Gen for key admin tasks like creating pupil records, managing registration, tracking consents, reviewing conduct data and more. The new Attendance Management module is launching in July, and messaging to parents about unexplained absence is coming in October. You can view the full roadmap here.
Yes — there’s no additional cost for SIMS Next Gen functionality if you’re a current SIMS customer. As long as your licence is active, you can start using the new tools as they’re released.
