What is Power BI?
Power BI is a data analytics and visualisation tool that can create powerful interactive reports and dashboards. Reports can be run from many areas of SIMS, loaded into Power BI where they may be manipulated, relationships between data established, and visualisations created. This course introduces the principles of extracting the data from SIMS, loading it into Power BI, carrying out some basic transformations and establishing data relationships. It will provide you the skills necessary to ensure that schools are best placed to further explore the power of Power BI reporting
This full day course is aimed at new users of SIMS or users new to year end procedures and explores configuring SIMS for the new school year including setting up the new pastoral structure and dealing with admissions. Before the new school year commences, the pastoral process must be completed in SIMS.
This course covers the end of year procedures in FMS specifically for academies to enable the smooth closure of the accounts prior to year end.
This course is not suitable for delegates from an independent school.
FMS is a finance package that runs separately to SIMS but may be linked to gain information from SIMS.
FMS is capable of recording all order and invoice information for suppliers, recording budgets and commitments along with cash book transactions, petty cash and general journals. It also produces cheque runs and bank reconciliations along with all the period end/year end procedures.
The course gives a complete overview of the SIMS Behaviour Management area which a school can use to record, monitor and manage its pupils’ behaviour and achievements, including detentions and the use of report cards and putting in place additional initiatives.
This course explores all aspects of the examination results process including importing results into the software and analysing them to produce headline analyses on results day. Delegates will also explore queries and Review of Marking grade changes as well as more detailed analyses of subject area and individual class performance.
