We’re gearing up for some of our biggest releases this year – including AI-powered Smart Seating Plans, Attendance Management, and the first phase of our MAT MIS: Group Hub. But in the meantime, we’ve also delivered several valuable updates this May to make everyday tasks quicker and easier.
For office staff…
Spot staff absence patterns early
You can now set up custom rules in the Staff Absences module to highlight potential issues with staff absence. This feature helps schools intervene sooner, minimise disruption, and make more informed staffing decisions. It also supports staff wellbeing and gives students greater consistency in the classroom.

Customise staff records to fit your school
You can now view User Defined Fields (UDFs) that are created in SIMS 7 in Staff Profiles, giving you the flexibility to view the data your school needs.
Whether it’s DBS renewal dates, training records, or car registrations, everything is stored in one central place.

For office staff and teaching teams…
See pupil needs at a glance
Display key pupil-level UDFs – such as medical needs or intervention groups – directly in Class View.
Just hover over a pupil card for more information, helping you quickly understand individual needs and provide more tailored support.

For all staff…
Access SIMS Next Gen directly from SIMS7
We’ve made it even easier to explore SIMS Next Gen directly from SIMS7.
New shortcuts have been added to your toolbar giving you one-click access to the latest cloud functionality.
As new modules go live, your menu will update automatically so you can easily access the latest innovation from SIMS.

That’s everything for May - small but powerful updates to help your school run smoothly.
Stay tuned for our next blog, where we’ll share what’s coming in the summer term.
