This one day course covers the end of year procedures required within FMS, with reference to the Consistent Finance Return (CFR) where appropriate.
This course covers the Financial Reporting Suite (FRS) and the full range of its functionality, including the following areas:
* producing a personalised cover sheet for finance meetings
* reviewing forecasts and budgets and entering notes suggesting courses of action for governors to consider
* creating detailed reports for a variety of audiences
* improved outputs (PDF and Excel)
* loading and saving time-specified datasets
* setting conditional formatting on layouts.
SIMS Financial Management System (FMS) covers the full range of accounting functions required by schools, whether they run their own accounts locally or have their finances managed centrally by their Local Authority. This includes recording income and using Petty Cash.
This course provides delegates with an understanding of how to maintain and manage staff personal, professional and contractual data, including the links between Personnel and FMS.
This course is not suitable for delegates from an independent school.

The diary within SIMS forms an integral part of communication throughout the school. Each member of staff’s home page has the school diary as part of the timeline and can be used to display key pieces of information such as parents evenings, assessment deadlines and other important events. Personal tasks and alerts are very useful in reminding staff of any upcoming obligations in a timely manner.

The aim of the Basic User Report Writer course is to allow a SIMS Finance user to write reports on the general ledger.

This course will enable you to create single and multi-year Budget planning based on your budgetary figures, maintain budget values, enquire, review, add or amend budget figures or reverse budget amendments previously made. Extract modelled budget values to be use as the new years original and revised budget in NML.
